I have been reading this mail list for a while now and I would just like to
say how interesting and informative I find it.

I have a temperature problem with my car that I can live with but I would
like to understand and fix. It started after I over-revved the car one time
so I am concerned that it might be minor side effect of something more
critical.

Since the over-revving it requires the radiator fans in most driving
conditions except highway rather than only requiring them when sitting
stationary in traffic.

I have had a couple of push rods replaced so they are all ok now. I have had
the thermostat replaced and that seems to be working fine. It seems like the
cooling system is no longer able to cope with the heat produced by the engine
without the radiator fans.

It seems to me that the possibilities are:

1) the engine is producing more heat. I don't know what could cause this.
It has had the timing checked but with no effect.

2) Coolant is not circulating as quickly as before. How likely is it that I
could have damaged the water pump?

3) The radiator is partially blocked. Seems unlikely since the car is
only 18 months old.

The engine is the V8 Rover engine prepared by TVR to 4.0l, 250hp. It sits in
a '92 Griffith that is a real jewel to drive. ( It is my 'Dream car' and I
love it dearly).

I would really appreciate anyones comments on likely causes and anything
that I can do to diagnose the problem. Since everything is running fine I am
loath to do anything major until I am fairly confident that it will fix it.

Thanks
Tim
