During the search for the TVR, I have registered with the TVR Car Club,
ordered the TVR Gold Portfolio (thanks for the phone & order # recently
posted to the list) got a back issue of British Car with an article on the
2500M and located many cars, "ALL IN THE U.S."
I contacted the customs office to prepare for purchasing a car from the
States, now that I know a little more what I am looking for, and have
seen many different prices. Heres the crunch....
Exchange to U.S. funds, 38 cents on the dollar
Duty of 9.2% if less than 25 years old,
8% GST
9% PST
Transportation, I guess I'll have to go get it myself, so it limits the
location a bit,
This makes a $6000 dollar car (which is the range I've been looking at)
around $10,000 by the time I'm done, (not including transport)
This is survivable, as I was planning on spending about 10,000, but the last
big kicker.....
I CANNOT register the car here until it passes a bumper to bumper safety
inspection, and the customs agent said they check EVERYTHING!
This is getting tough... but I'm not giving up.
