Don't flame him, Triumph lovers! He's an MG guy and knows not of what he
speaks. :-)

The Stag is a different car. One that I suggest you avoid like the
plague. Its chief problem, IMHO, is that it is the only car to use its V8
engine. Parts availability in Minnesota could be a problem.

The Triumph GT6+ is a more desirable car, IMHO.

A GT6 is essentially a fastback coupe version of a Spitfire with a
(2000cc?) straight six engine. Its major weakness, IMHO, is that it
shares the same swing-axle rear suspension with the Spitfire. About this
point, Ralph Nadar was right.

The GT6+ is the USA-market designation (I think in the UK it was Mark II
or some such) for the GT6 that was upgraded to a full independent rear
suspension. The upside of this is much better geometry. The downside is
that they seem to be a certain amount of trouble to maintain.

A GT6+ can be made to handle well. There is significant luggage room,
sort of on the order of an MGB-GT.

As when buying any car in Minnesota, search for rust. The Triumph experts
on this list can tell you where to look for the deadly rust in the rear
driveline and suspension area that is the cause of major failures on these
cars.

Give me a call. I will go look at it with you. Have no fear, I will not be
buying it out from under you. Though if the guy has some cool extra wheels,
they do fit on my Europa!
