I like to thank all those who offered suggestions on the above, I settled
on an original Rover unit courtesy of Ted Schumacher. Thank's everyone for
your help.

On a slightly different subject, I would like to identify a Carter carb I have.
All the info I have been able to locate and that's not much! Says the carb
number is stamped on the base casting near one of the bolt holes.
Well I have a number but I cannot relate it to anything that I have read about.
The numbers are:- J2 3721SB. In the casting of the main body are the numbers
6 1518, can anyone identify this model and can anyone point me to a source
for info to overhaul of this beast. I know nothing of Cater carbs or for
that matter Holley or any other US hardware. I cut my teeth on SU's and
Strombergs. I would like to find a helpful manual that would show me
exploded views and part numbers so that I can strip it and rebuild it
thereby learning something on the way.
This is a 4 barrel carb has a manual (thermal) choke assembly. I did find
Summits home page and they list a few Carter models but none of the numbers
relate to what I find on my carb. Did this carb originate from some muscle
car or other, perhaps? Do the numbers J2 3721SB relate to one of the car
manufacturers that might have used a carter carb as standard equipment? I
believe it is a 500CFM carb, I am hoping so. Any knowledgeable helpers out
there?
TIA, John ( Getting close to completing the V8 engine rebuild.)
