I have been running 215's & 3.5's for many years and have never had a
problem with head gasket leakage. That includes a Buick 215 that is
constantly and badly abused in a dune-buggy. I have always torqued all the
head bolts equally. One of my 215's is an Oldsmobile version with the
inclusion of the top head bolts. I always wondered why Buick chooses to
leave them out, but it has never seemed to matter. Perhaps I have just been
lucky.

I have just rebuild my motor Rover 3.5L and used the Fel-Pro blue
gaskets, and torqued the head as to the ROM specs, now what should I do
leave it or slack off the short bolts and retorque them to a lower
torque.
