Pat (and any other roadster owners who may be
intereted):

This info is proving invaluable... thanks! I ordered a
new custom stereo from Absolute Classics in
California... it has old style control knobs and won't
require any additional console cutting, which is good.
It has a very simple design and no name brand which
(hopefully) will reduce the theft risk. Based on your
description, I think it will fit the console. Here's a
photo... mine is black with black knobs and a Datsun
logo on the cassette face plate. $189... not bad.

I plan to duplicate your speaker setup now that I know
about the holes behind the seats.
