Adam,

Correct all the USA '68-'73 510's had L16 (1600cc OHC) engines in them.

The '68-'71 were all rated at 96 hp.
The '72 model dropped the air injection pump, and was rated at 92hp.
The '73 model still retained the L16, but with a different head and
larger carb bore it was rated at 100hp. '73 Model year was only sold
as a 2 door, as the 4 door and Station Wagon were the 610 model (fitted
with a L18 motor).

Other odd ball trivia: Canada got a L13 (1300cc OHC engine), early
versions having drum front brakes. Spotted one in a wrecking yard
in Oregon.

The 510's were PRODUCED until '75 (??) in Mexico. Spotted one of them,
which was fitted with a A15 (1500cc motor like the Nissan 210), and
despite being a sedan it had a solid rear axle. Owner was passing though
Texas and stopped at a local store. Also the same place where I spotted
a Datsun crew cab truck (it was a later 1980 model... long before our
current craze of Crew Cabs).

As to speed... I loved my L18 fitted 510, but had a fairly stock L16
with the peanut head and bigger carb on it. Sold it to a fellow roadster
owner, who drove it home as I followed him back to his house. Funny
thing was I would have sworn my '95 Nissan Truck was quicker... but the
510 out ran me!  I'll let someone else look up the road test specs, but
would think a 510 would out perform a 1600 roadster... Just to give
a baseline of the performance.

Too much trivia on the brain... need my sleep. A little bit sore
from moving.
