I have a H20 forklift engine in my Fairlady. It has been in there for about 10
years and over 300000 miles, and I drive it like a maniac too! I used the H20
short motor and fitted it with an alloy R series SP311 head and run the original
SP311 manifolds, carbs, distributor, etc. The forklift cam is identical to the
cam in the SP311 R series engine. It will rev past 6000rpm easily, it is quicker
off the mark than a U20 and has more torque low down but the U20 is
significantly better in the high rev range.
The forklift head has extremely weak valve springs, if you were going to use a
forklift head you would need to do some work on it.
