Check your dwell and timing first. As the point block wears the points get
to where they just barely open causing bad running. Also check the fuel filter
and to see if your float bowls are over flowing.

hello everyone,
i was wondering if someone could help me. i recently
replaced my old R16 with a rebuilt one a couple of
weeks ago and was running fine until recently. When i
rev the RPM above 3.5- 4000 it begins to bog/stutter
and will not go any higher. Orginally this was only
affecting my freeway driving but, now it even does
this at lower RPM. This morning on my way to work it
died during idle at a light and even backfired with
black smoke. Does anyone have any suggestions as to
what the problem may be. This is on a stock R16 motor
with SU's.
Thank You
