I used a hodrod styled hidden antenna on my 66 SPL311. It didn't work too well. 
The unit was mounted horizontally inside the trunk. Unfortunately, I don't know 
if its was a problem with the antenna location or the radio itself.

The hidden antenna company recommended stashing the antenna horizontally under 
the dash. I think in this application it should work well.

nicely painted bodywork
