In a message dated 98-02-13 10:25:34 EST, you write:

<< As I recall, the Carillo rods are parted straight
across, not slanted like the stock TR rods, but they fit down
the TR bore. How does that work?

The untold story:

They just fit, and do so becaues of the small SPS $$$$$$$$$$$ bolts.

Very shortly after SCCA leagalized alt. rods, I ordered my first set.
I asked Carillo if they needed a sample, and they said no, several
TR4 racers had sets (never learned who)

When the rods arrived, I found out right away that they would not
fit through an 87mm liner (a second wonder is why the TR4 people
had not mentioned this!)

Now, for those of you who have actually read the factory manual, it
shows putting the piston/rod assy. up in to the liner before putting all
this into the block. I.E. the rod only has to fit past the block ID.

I called the company, saying that I could do this, but that a quick
track side rebuild would not work.

They modified my rods, and all later ones now fit 87mm bores.

I feel strongly that these rods are cost effective.
