Re your question about Vintage/Historic racing costs.

Vintage/Historic racing can be as expensive as you choose with a
minimum of a street sports car and a couple of thousand dollars to start
with. This will cover required safety and reliability modifications. At this
level of expense you will start at the back of the grid and finish there as
well. However, you will usually find someone to race with, but not always.
The question is "Why do you want to vintage race?". If you want to compete at
the front and "win," you will need a lot more money. If you wish to
participate in a "racing format of friendly wheel-to wheel competition with
vehicles faithfully prepared to their era" you can do it for a few hundred
dollars a weekend or a few thousand if you choose. Your choice, either way
you can have a great time and meet a number of pleasant and interesting
people.
