There were a number of thefts at Mid Ohio, I am under the impression from
what I was told there were at least six, likely more. I believe Pat Ryan
(Spitfire & Camaro) was among them. His valuables were removed from a closed
locker within his rig. These folks are bold and must seemingly have had a
plan, it was not a hap-hazard occurance. They knew who was on the track and
when and where to look for valuables.
Probably a statement of things to continue in the future. Limerock has had
this problem in the past as did Mosport in Canada and last year there were a
few at Mid-Ohio. I recall a couple of instances at Watkins Glen also.
Whoever did this was so bold as to dig through folded clothes, remove
wallets , then neatly refold the clothes and leave the scene. I would think
behavior like this would not be conducive to good health and a long life in
many circles. Dragging behind a TR comes to mind.
Be cautious at any track. Lock up any valuable and don't leave vehicles
unsecured if unattended. Motorhomes have been prime targets in the past.
Many of us tend to paddock with those we race with, so an entire area is
vacated for a Group's session. Prime pickings to some!
