As a recent new subscriber to the FOT network, it sure has sparked a lot of
thought on my part. Even though I have been around TR's for a long time, I
don't have much experience in racing them.
Most of my experience is with a VW Rabbit GTI in various classes like ITB,
E/P and GT4. For 6 years I have been running a Jacob's Opti-timer. It has an
adjustable Rev limiter and adjustable Ignition timer. Not only can I set the
rev
limiter to desired setting but I can retard timing up 15 degrees for hot
starts with a turn of the knob.
Is that legal in Vintage? If it is, I'm putting it in my TR4 as soon as I get
done with my new engine. I've heard enough stories to scare the hell out of
me. Since I'm used to running at 8000 RPM's in the VW, I'll need something to
watch over me.
