I'll try to support FoT gatherings at events that are not already
oversubscribed, and that I have a shot at being able to tow to.

With acknowledgement that I am a part time race organizer but who is not
really trying to bolster his own events:

As most of you know I'm not in favor of the Mitty as an FoT deal. I believe
we are being taken advantage of to bolster entries at an event that is already
significantly larger than it should be for everyone to have a great week end.
I truly grasp that many of our members enjoy big events with lots of hoopla
and dont mind the lack of track time, delays, paddock hassles, etc. I'm just
not one of them. If The Mitty really thought the TR/MG thing was special,
theyd be talking about not having as many enduros and other feature groups. I
think the recent race at Watkins Glen has gotten so big that the weekend
suffers maybe even more than the Mitty.

There are lots of nice tracks with events hosted by several groups during
which the FoT show could truly be treated as special and which could handle
the additional entries without being overbig. I thought the Gold Cup this
year was an excellent example; great track and an entry that was comfortable
at something around 200 cars or so. SVRA, HSR, VSCDA and ahem... VDCA all
have events in the east half of the nation that might work. In fact, the SVRA
schedule that came out this weekend has a fall date back at Road Atlanta as it
did some time back. It was never oversubscribed and I had a great time there
for several years. Heck, I tried to get a fall VDCA date there and didnt
succeed, now I guess I know why.

thanks for listening
