If you're going to use electronic ignition of any sort you'd be better  
of with an alternator, the 14 volts you wind up with is appreciated  
and expected by the electronics. As a guy who runs points for just  
that reason I still think about an alternator occasionally as being  
one less thing I need to worry about in the pits. Forgetting to make  
sure your battery is fully charged can be a bitch sometimes.

And what are you doing up at this hour Susan. It's one AM here in  
Hawaii, but i woke up after having a bit too much port tonight. Cigars  
and a long talk with an old friend--now I'm paying the price.
