I ran a business building and selling industrial ultrasonic cleaners
and the very best automotive applications were for carbs and auto
transmissions (no greasy dirt). The key is time and temp. Optimal temp
is 185*F and time depends on the material: soft metals go shorter
duration. CA EPA aside, we never advised using solvents, only aqueous
based cleaners (Brulin makes some exceptional products) followed by a
thorough rinse and dry. NFI.
