Although I agree with Steve B that BJ8 did not have insulation under the
hood (bonnet) it is interesting to note that it is specified in the
parts book for all non UK markets under part numbers AHB8973 & 4.
I don't think I have ever seen a BJ8 with this insulation which was
originally installed.
I would guess that regular contact cement would not do the job because
it cannot withstand too much heat. Just check with anyone who owns a
dark colored E Type coupe. They will tell you how hard it is to keep the
headliner in place.

well, and most people see getting rid of that heat as more of a problem

I used 3M contact cement to attach 1/4" double mylar-faced bubblewrap
type
insulation to the underside of my fiberglass gearbox cover several years
ago.
So far, it's taking whatever heat it sees and hasn't come loose. When
using
contact cement, I have found it much better to try to stick only a
little bit
of it at a time, at least in the beginning.
