I bolted on a tow hook similar to the Wickers "repro" type (which I like
better and would have bought had I known)to the threaded bumper mount tubes
on the inside of the main frame rail. This is used to winch the car onto the
trailer.
I use 2" nylon webbing with ratchet tie-downs on all four corners. In front
I thread the strap around the front cross member, usually scraping knuckles
on the radiator bottom. In back I thread the strap thru spokes on the
Mini-Lites, which is far more convenient (no scratches yet either), but
probably less secure than going around the axle with axle straps like I used
to (pain in the ). Some sort of discreet hooks on the rear frame rails
would be my preference, but I don't trailer it enough to want to do any
modification.

Happy New Year!
My son and I recently purchased a used, flat bed car hauler
with a 15 ft. diamond plate full deck for use with our project cars.
The hauler has four tie-down rings integrated into the decking.
I prefer to drive my '66 BJ8 but if I ever encountered an occasion
where it couldn't be driven and or it needed to be winched up on the
trailer,
1) what would be the safest method (connection point) for using a winch?
2) How would the those of you on the list chose to secure it for transport?
Frame ties, axel straps, ratcheted tie-downs? Wheel chocks ? Etc.?
