Hello Listers,

I wonder if any one can tell me anything about the hard top I purchased
in or about 1969 or 1970, from a used car dealer in Richmond, VA, who had
no use for it or even knew what car it was supposed to fit. It mostly fit
so I bought it. I've had it all these years, and even used it for a few
years in the 70's. Had to add lots of rubber insulation to keep the water
somewhat out. Since all the pictures I've seen of real Healey hard tops
in magazines, restoration guides etc differ from mine in that I have only
one rear window (or is it backlight), while all the official ones I've
seen have more of a wrap around glass with two upright strips or maybe it
is three windows. The fasteners were more of the hardware store kind with
" C bolts" and "Circle bolts??" but not the actual clamp as on the soft
top.

Now I found one I bet is the same as mine. The AHCUSA calendar for April,
2005 has one on a rally car that looks like mine, except I had no roof
vent. A really great picture I found just today is on page 15 of the Nov,
2004 Austin Healey Magazine published by the AHCUSA. The one on page 15
looks exactly like mine. Pictures have probably right under my nose for a
long time but never so exactly as the Nov magazine.

Anybody know anything about these tops? Who made them, were they official
Healey parts or anything at all. The only thing I can add is that mine
had the inside covered with black and white wool herring bone tweed. If
this top is in fact supposed to fit a Healey then I just need to buy a
few clamps and rubber strips and of course a complete sanding and paint
job and some nice fabric for the inside.

Love to hear anything at all about my top.

Thanks
