Steve,

I just had the same suggestion from Bill Moyer. My dipstick broke right
where the blade goes into the handle. If I welded or braised it, I am
afraid that it would break again and drop the blade into the oil pan.

Hi, Peter -

If you can't find a new one or a good used one, you can braze the two halves
of your broken one together again.

I managed to break my dipstick while doing an oil change today. Luckily,
I
have both halves. The usual suspects list this part as N/A. Any ideas
  where I can get one?

  Thanks,
