Hi Tom,

As Earl said, 2.5 to 3.5 psi pressure for SU carbs.

The fuel flow required by an engine is called Brake Specific Fuel 
Consumption (BSF). It can be estimated as follows:

The range of BSF for most engines is from 0.35 to 0.6 lb/hr/hp.  (pounds 
per hour per horsepower) Average is about 0.5 lb/hr/hp.

Gasoline weighs 5.6 to 6.5 lb per gallon. Use 6.0 lb.

Example: 150 hp engine --- 0.5 lb/hr * 150 hp = 75 lb/hr &
75 lb/hr / 6 lb/gal = 12.5 gal/hour.

A pump that supplies 12.5 gal/hr at 2.5 psi should be adequate for 150 
horsepower.

The SU pumps such as the AUF300/AZX1300 are rated at around 15 gal/hr & 
should handle 180 hp. Other pump brands are available with similar or 
higher flow ratings.

A 15 gph flow equates to two pints per minute which you can roughly 
check by running the pump output into a measuring cup for a minute. Not 
as exciting as full throttle runs up a hill, but easier on the engine. 
At least for an estimated starting point.
