Somebody on The Simpsons writing staff knows his/her cars and airplanes
(and history).

There is an episode where "The Day the Music Died"--deaths of Buddy
Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens in a plane crash--was portraid
and they got the aircraft correct: Beechcraft V35 Bonanza.

Most of the news programs aren't that good ... they almost always get
aircraft accidents wrong (e.g. showing file footage of a 747 when a Cessna
172 crashes, describing a "stall" as the engine quitting, etc).
