I just put on new brake shoes and I am having difficulty getting the adjustment right. Most instructions say to tighten the square adjusting screw until resistance is felt and then back off one or two clicks. I find that there is resistance over 1/3 of the drum rotation and no resistance over the rest. This resistance is felt over a wide range of adjustment. So, pray tell, how do I handle that?
