Many thanks Alan...but won't that set the timing at TDC?  I thought it
should be 5 or 6 BTDC, am I wrong??

Jack -

It's simple - turn the motor until the pully mark is indicating TDC
(check the dizzy rotor to make sure you're not 180 out).

Then hook up your strobe, turn on the ignition, and then rotate the
dizzy with you hand until you find the spot where it fires and then
clamp the dizzy down. (You can do this with a screwdriver in the #1
spark plug wire rather than a strobe if you want).
