Simon, in my humble opinion coating the thread with PTFE tape will not have
any effect. The nipple seals with its tapered end in a tapered bore and once
the bleed screw is closed there is no way air can be sucked into the system.
I think the problem lies in an incorrect bleeding procedure: one has to
close the bleed screw fully just before the pedal has reached its utmost
down position.
