Yes, not of the Nissonger problem but I was aware the cable core was 
designed to throw oil back into the box.  I thought it was the twist in the 
inner cable rather than the weave of an outer cover.
Cable driven Tachographs on goods vehicles suffer from a similar aftermarket 
problems and is one of the faults you were taught to detect.
