Adjustable reamer?... don't do it. One place on a Healey engine that is
critical to maintaining oil pressure is having the rocker assembly properly
spec'd. I did my own rocker assembly, but I did it at a full service
machine shop which had the proper tools for reaming out the rocker assembly.
Even with a professional tool setup, I didn't get a perfectly spec'd reaming
job done. The outer edges of each bearing are a bit over reamed. While I
do have good oil pressure (I was also extremely careful everyplace else that
matters... like crankshaft bearings, etc.), I know from observation and
experience that this is not a simple task to get done right. And the idea
that an adjustable reamer might work?...not in the cards.

My advice, have your rocker shaft done by a specialist. There are plenty of
them out there, and the price is very reasonable... some might even say the
price is cheap (especially if you were planning on dropping a few coin on an
adjustable tool...save your bucks, and get the job done properly.)

Hi All,

I am building up a new head assembly to later be installed on my BJ8 engine.
I intend to rebuild the rocker assembly myself. I want to buy an adjustable
reamer for the rocker bushings. Does anyone know the diameter of the shaft?
At this time I don't have the used assembly that I bought on ebay, and I am
not home to measure the shaft on my car. Can anyone help with providing the
shaft diameter?
