First, Welcome to MG ownership and this BBS.

Second, as the car ran well until recenctly, there's a possibility that the
fuel screens have pluged up from old gas and the car's idleness. A car
will quite ofter run well for a while until the fuel filter screens plug up
from old gas and rust from the fuel tank.

There are several fuel filter screens in the system to check. Start with those
at the carburetors. Where the fuel lines enter the float chambers
under the brass "banjo" fitting are thimble shaped filters. Clean them out on
both carbs.

Remove the carb float tops and check for rust and debris. Use a small brush to
loosen up the crud and siphon it out along gas using a basting
syringe.

The items you don't want to mess with until you understand SUs are the idle
screws on the throttle shafts and the jet nuts under the choke levers.
SUs are simple to adjust once you know how.

Check and clean the fuel filter screen that's accessable under the nut at the
bottom of the fuel pump housing.

I don't know about TCs, but TD's also have a filter screen in the fuel tank
where the fuel line goes into the tank. It may also be pluged up.

Regards,
Blake
