Over the weekend, I tried out my new V8 on the race track and after a few
laps noted the brakes getting a bit spongy to the point where you consider
an extra stroke of the pedal for maximum brake action. I've been told by
some guys who've raced V8s that this is due to the brake lines near the
exhaust manifolds being exposed to excessive heat (regular block hugger
style). Has anyone tried insulating tape on the manifolds as a simple
measure to reduce heat under the bonnet? I'm only planning to take it out on
the race track occasionally, so I don't want to modify my standard V8 brake
set up into something expensive.

P.S. Beating the 4 and 6 cylinder MG race cars down the straight certainly
makes all that work worthwhile!
