Since it looks like you're going the custom rad route, I can offer up what I
did for a rad in my Rover 3.5 '77 roadster. I made up a cardboard template
of the original side mounts as I didn't want to modify these in any way. To
get maximum height including filler neck, I just took some measurements and
trimmed the cardboard down to size.

As for overall height of the core, I measured downwards (with a factor
thrown in for the top & bottom tanks) and came up with a core height of 20".
With this set-up, the lower part of the core and the bottom tank get direct
airflow through the ST spoiler I have installed on the car. I also had the
rad shop use a 4-row core.

I've got the inlet on the driver's side and the outlet on the passenger side
but a shop can mount them anywhere on the tanks. Make sure you get a drain
installed as well.

Once all this was measured up on the cardboard sheet, I took this in and a
couple weeks later, I had a new rad. I'm using two original MGB RB fans
mounted in the stock location, thermo-switch activated. As well, I've got
RV8 headers and a hood scoop which I wanted to help with cooling issues.

The whole system has been working great with no overheating issues. I can
pass along some pics if you like.

Cheers
