please don't take offense, but come on, why mess with what is proven to work,
especially when it's brakes and clutch?
FYI...
Castrol GT LMA stands for Low Moisture Absorbtion. The problem of moisture
(via condensation, boiling, etc) in brake lines is a big one, especially if
you have iron wheel cylinders as many of our LBCs do.
Autocrossers and racers may use a heavy duty Dot 3 fluid where you are, but
the people I know are all using DOT4 Castrol. Why, in a racecar, would you
settle for a Lower boiling point?!!! Regardless, they all bleed their systems
regularly, so moisture itself isn't as much of an issue as it is in a street
car.
BL did indeed start using latex rubber eventually, but I don't know when...
and since the sizes and clearences of the older designs (say Pre- TR7) were
all meant for rubber that swe;;ed some, I somehow doubt that they redesigned
all their parts just so they could use latex rubber seals instead.
The clutch system may not generate as much heat as brakes, but are you
willing to live with keeping track of 2 different brake fluids for 1 car??
Good shopping will yield the Castrol at a decent price, for example Sams
Club in my area has cases of 12 for 14 bucks...about what cheapo dot 3 costs.
All in all, why penny pinch when it's your brakes????

just sign me John who's fond of stopping....
