Chances are that when you replaced the points, they were not properly 
adjusted.

When you replace the points, the diaphram needs to be properly tensioned and 
the "throw-over" needs to be set. The full instructions for doing this can 
be found in most workshop manuals. Try the Bentley manual.

You do have a workshop manual, don't you? :<)
