I like the comments of Denise Thorpe, but perhaps there are other
ideas behind some our madness. You wouldn't think that here in
Maryland we would have too much problem, but its the salt they put
down that we are trying to avoid. My 67 B had no rust when I got it
only cause it was never driven in the salt, which gets into the
cracks and crevices (sp?) and over the years kills the body. When
the salt is put down, I put on the hard top, hang the tonneau inside,
put a car cover over the car to keep the birds and snow (occasional)
off the paint and thats it. When the snow is gone and the salt
washed away by a good rain, then I take it out for occasional drives
in the winter, it has a good heater.
THIS year, due to this net, I will:
-open the vents and windows a crack, for equalization of humidity.
-Disconnect the battery...I haven't yet installed the cut off switch,
and the thought of a short developing, causing a fire, like in
someone's story in their A, is frightening. I don't plan on taking
the battery indoors though, with the occasional drive, it seems to do
fine.
