I have to believe that the quality of work at muffler chains is going to
vary quite a bit from shop to shop.  That said, when I needed a muffler on
a Sunday afternoon (in Spokane, WA), the only shop open was a Midas.  They
seemed to have done it right, and it has lasted since 1988--although my car
is only a weekend driver.   Good luck!
