Ross,

Good to hear that it helps so much to change the gear oil.

I was planning to do that as well on my B soon. But as I have an O/D
equipped tranny, my Haynes manual prohibits the use of teflon based
additives such as (I forgot! I know it's a black bottle) let's say
Brand X.
What does the list think of synthetic oil for an O/D tranny. Is it
worth the extra cost or is it just a waste of money, or even worse,
will it make the O/D inoperative?

Should I use straight SAE 30 oil or SAE 20W/50?

I know, a lot of questions, but I'm just curious what other people
think about it.
