I have followed this discussion with interest. I don't know much about paint, but if you are going to use aerosol cans why not use auto enamels or lacquers rather than Rust-Oleum. Some years ago I painted some parts with Ditzler gloss lacquer with the recommended primer after wiping the bare metal with a metal etching compound (Prepsol). It worked pretty well, was sandable and held up for a long time. Are spray cans of lacquer still available? Dave G. |
