C'mon Doug, let's do it the
>'RIGHT' way!"

As another data point I was in a similar position about 18 months ago. I
had several parts
cars in one end and a stripped 1962 bodyshell in the other corner. I
started working on the
body in Nov 1995, which took about 1 month to knock out a couple of
dents, replace the floors,
and a few other minor repairs.

The bodyshell had already been bead-blasted and primed prior to this. Jan
1996 the bodyshell
went to the bodyshop to get painted. It took 2 weeks to paint the
underneath, the inside, the trunk area,
the engine compartment and the outside.

I received the bodyshell back in Feb 1996, I spent the next 6 weeks
literally assembling the bodyshell
from the variuos parts cars. I had the car registered and ready for the
road in middle of March 1996.

Sure it still needed carpetting, most of the exterior chorme, all of the
the rubber weather stripping,
but at least I could legally drive it. Since March 1996, I have used the
car as a daily driver and
many evenings have been spent installing all those little bits and peces.

So I have to disagree with Ray Gibbons that the car will be laid up for
several yaers while the restorations
is progressing. If you put your mind to ita nd have the time/money, then
it can be accomplished in a very
short time.

The one satisfying pleasure I get is knowing the the car was built right
the first time. I know that I do not
have to do any major teardowns in the near future.

gerry.

BTW - the key to quick assembly is to have all of the components,
cleaned/fixed and ready to be installed.
I spent most of the time in january (while the body was being painted),
cleaning/repairing/painting the major
assemblies, like the rear axle, the front sub-frame/ front suspension and
the engine/gearbox
