I just removed the H6s from my MGA twin cam to cure sticky jets and a leak
in 1 carb. (if OJ Simpson had one of these to get the carbs off he wouldn't
have any problems explaining cuts on his hands!)
Anyway I have a choice of cork or neoprene seals for the jet gland seals-
what seems to work best? I rebuilt the H2s on my TC about 3 years ago and
had trouble with the neoprene not seeming to seal as well as the cork, but
I finaly got them to work. I am lucky and have both types for the A and
would value opinions as to which is better.
There is also a "lazy link" on the connecting throttle shafts which delays
slightly the actuation of the front carb. I can take a guess at the reason
for this but does anyone know for sure? When I balance the carbs airflow I
assume that engine speed should be high enough so that the "lazy link" has
picked up the front carb. Thus the carb air flow won't be balanced at idle
but will be when the throttle is opened during routine operation. Sound
right?
