Ah, now the weird tapping noises make sense.  Pull your valve cover off and 
determine if you've got two bent push rods, two rockers way out of adjustment, 
two 
dropped pushrod, etc.  I'd place money your problem is in your valvetrain on 
the 
top of your engines head.
