I have a Weber downdraft on my 77B.  It is a manual choke model, and has
no fitting such as you mention.  Is your carb a hot water choke type. 
They were available (don't know if they still are.  The car came with a
Zenith-Stromberg with a hot water choke.  It took it's water off the
heater bypass hose.  I ran a straight length of hose from the lower
radiator hose to the heater when I installed by carb.
