Nope. Disagree. The orignal question is how to flush out the steering
rack prior to putting on new gaiters. Although the various brake
cleaners do a job at what they are supposed to do (i.e., whatever they
hit is gonna get clean) they are too volatile for this task. You can't
squirt the brake cleaner to the dirty parts. You need to run some oil
through it to get it clean. 

So, again, filling the thing with oil at the access plate at the
steering column junction and then turning the wheel full lock a few
times will force the oil out of the rack, hopefully taking the dirt with
it, and leving behind a quantity of clean oil.

Doesn't the manual say 90wt? I'm sure motor oil would be okay, too. But
you want something that will stick with the rack parts and not just dump
into the gaiters and stay there.

I also like brake cleaner for cleaning visible dirt. I just don't think
it is the right application here.
