I went back out to the garage, and began to play with the idle and mixture
screws on the weber carb. I got the car to idle very nicely at 900 or so,
but still no luck with it's burp (backfire). Then it hit me (no, not the
trouble light). My air pump was still pumping air into the combustion
chamber. I wasn't able to remove it today, but would it b causing my
problems? I'd like to keep that on, my machinist told me that the air
injection was a nice feature and worth keeping.
Since the car was overheating, I started playing with the doors, to rehang
them properly. Were the hinges in a '74 'b attatched with an allen head
screw, or is this another of the DPO's creations? I rounded off two allen
wrenches and countless screw heads trying to get the damn things out.
Hmmm...If beer loosens me up, will it also loosen up bolts?
Thanks again, hopefully this car will run right with new plug wires, a
thermostat, and no air pump!
