Michael,
  In an old copy of Classic and Thouroughbred magazine, there was an
article on the evolution of the TR cars. In the article were several
pictures of the TR7, but with a slightly different nose/grille and MG
badges.  In the body of the article, it stated that the TR7 was
originally concieved as an MG, but the power that be (were) in charge
decided to make it the new Tri***h.
  THANK GOODNESS they did something right!!!!
