Before you go to the effort and expense of replacing the oil pump (they
don't wear too badly running in oil as they do), you may want to try
replacing the oil pressure release spring with a longer spring or insert a
small spacer referred to by Moss as the oil release valve packing (part
#460-165).  The longer (stiffer) oil pressure release spring is available
through many MG parts dealers like Brit-Teck, etc.  I have both the longer
spring and the packing in mine and the pressure is normally 75 lbs at 3000.
