On a similar note, I went to get the family wagon (yes it's a land battleship)
safety inspection done today. What a surprise when I learned that I must now
also have a smog test completed as well. Previously, our particular area was
exempt from smog as it is rural/suburban. To make matters worse, it looks
like we'll also have those new fangled dynamo smog test required by next year
at an appreciable cost increase to the consumer (I hear the device itself
costs upwards of $60,000 and that we may be charged $75 for the
inspection!!!!). To add insult to injury, our commonwealth just increased
registration fees by 100% - what was a $24 fee for the right to register your
car has now been increased to $48.
Personally, I'm pretty tired of bending over for all of the (and you if the
description fits) right and left wingers just so you can feel accomplished in
forcing your agenda on someone else. Please, if you consider yourself to be a
staunch liberal, democrat, republican, right winger or left winger - keel
over, die and leave us rational common sense folks alone!!!!!!!!!!! On a more
moderate note I hear (around the campfire of course) that starting next year,
1973 and older will be exempt. This swinging pendulum thing is giving me a
headache!!!!
BTW, the car passed the safety and emissions test with no problems!!! As I
told the inspector - "Duh? I could have told you that it would before you
started the inspection!!!!!!" - Does the state really think I'd let my wife
drive and kids ride in an unsafe car? - well of course they do - that's why
they pass these dumb laws - they think we're all blithering idiots!!!! Just
for the record - I bear no ill will towards the inspector and was merely
lamenting in his direction.
BTW, BTW - what's with the "what's OK on the list" thread??? Platitudes,
platitudes, platitudes!!!! The key is moderation and realizing that it's all
part of the experience. Don't get it??? Well ponder this - how do you keep
an idiot in suspense ...........
OK, if you've figured that out but are just intolerant and can't take it??? Go
read a tech manual or talk to your computer - both are soulless and you should
relate well!!!!
