Your original problem was an oil leak, I believe you said. Your garage
decided to fix this by changing the carburetors. Now the car runs worse than
it did and they want to change your distributor? Seems to me they're trying
to get your car off the road for good!

Don't let them sell you a new distributor! Do have them put your old
carburetors back on and give you back the 230 quid. Obviously they don't
know what they're doing! Any garage that recommends a change of equipment
which results in a degradation of performance fixable only by spending even
more money is one whose advice you should incline to disregard......
