Hello Becky,

The $750.00 quote is way too much. The UPS carton size limit is a combined
length and girth of 131 inches and 150 lbs.

Perhaps, your friend is not familiar with talking to freight companies and
may have represented it incorrectly. If it really has to go by motor
freight I suggest you call a freight line yourself and ask them to
determine a "class" number for the hardtop. Something like used auto parts
(don't know what that classification number might be, but there is one).
Once you have the class, weight and dimensions, you can begin calling
around to motor freight companies to get your own quote.

Once you have a quote you might be able to get it discounted up to 50% by
having it shipped to someone in a local company that receives discounts
through an established program. Try calling Yellow Freight Systems or ABF.
Also, if you are not near a freight terminal and the shipment has to be
inter-lined through a local express company the price will go up
dramatically. If this is the case arrange to pick it up yourself from the
motor freight terminal.

Call Yellow Freight at 800 610.6500 for more details. Good luck.
