The tranny and differential probably have play, so you
should be able to turn the driveshaft a little. However,
if you can easily feel play in the driveshaft it's probably
too much.
The driveshaft comes out with 8 bolts and can be easily
inspected. You can even inspect it in-situ if you expect the
damage to be severe. Look for shredded bits of roller
bearings falling out of the cups.
