Back when I had my old midget, I pulled into a convenience mart to replenish
my vices. The car was black, beatup, but reliable. Not a looker. As I was
wedging myself back into the cockpit, a new, shiny black Corvette coupe
pulls in to my right and a very shapely and youthful blonde begins unfolding
herself from the driver's seat. Of course, this was a free show I wasn't
going to miss and, besides, I'm over forty and in an old, grubby car. I'm
invisible.

Well, the blonde has got her heels on the ground and is straightening up
when, from the shot gun seat, a little rug rat strains in her restraints and
proclaims

"Hey mommy! Look at that cool car. It's just like ours!"

Which caused mommy to focus on the old car for the first time and, from the
look in her eyes, I must have seemed to materialize out of thin air. And she
did not share her daughter's enthusiasm. She took one look at me then
scowled at her little one for making such a stupid remark before stomping
off into the store.

(The Corvette 'beeped' the doors locked.)
